a prayer for you

Dear God,

I don't know You as some do.  There are days when I think You're really there and You care what I go through and days I think

You could care less.  I heard You love me from other people, but I haven't experienced your love personally.  I heard you make old things new, but I don't even know what that means.

I heard you could fill this emptiness in me forever and I'd never look further than the cross, but I can't imagine that.

I want to.

You said all I need is faith the size of a mustard seed, well that's all I have. If you can make a lot out of something so small as my faith in You then please make my faith big.  And, if You're everything You say you are, then I have everything to gain and my life will change for the best.  And, if You're not Who you say You are, then I have nothing to lose and things will just stay the same.

So, thank you, God, for sending Jesus, Your One and only Son, to die for my sins and the sins of the world.  Thank You, Jesus, although tempted, for resisting temptation and living a sinless life, for being the perfect example of what True love looks like, and for being brave in fulfilling God's purpose in Your life unto death.  I acknowledge that You conquered death when You rose from the dead and are now alive and seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven.  Because You died for me and no other god did, it is only through You, Jesus, that I have forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.

Today, Jesus, I confess that I'm a sinner.  I ask that You would forgive me and wash away my sins with the blood You shed on the cross. I am ready to accept You as my personal, Lord and Savior.  Please, come into my heart and fill me with Your Holy Spirit.  Teach me how to live my life according to Your will for me all the way to eternity.  In Jesus name, I pray.  Amen!

if you declare with your mouth, "jesus is lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.                                                                    - romans 10:9-10
